I have been a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association (www.ahna.org) for over 20 years. I take great pride in my profession, and I strive to provide all my clients with the best possible care. Recently, some information came to my attention that shows how well the nursing profession is viewed by the public. It is wonderful to be passionate about my work and know that what I do is appreciated by all of you! For the 11th time in 12 years, nurses were voted the most trusted profession in America by the Gallup annual survey, which ranks professionals for their honesty and ethical standards. According to the survey, 81% of respondents believe the honesty and ethical standards of nurses are “high” or “very high.” “It’s extremely gratifying to know that the public continues to hold the profession in such high esteem,” American Nurses Association President Karen J. Daley, RN, PhD, MPH, FAAN, said in a news release. “The public’s high regard for the profession, coupled with nurses’ education and skills, makes nurses well-positioned to play a major role in the transformation of the nation’s healthcare system.” The Accountable Care Act and the U.S. Institute of Medicine recently released reports on the future of nursing. They both call for a larger role for nurses in providing patient-centered care in a reformed healthcare system. The survey results are based on phone interviews with 1,000 adults. Nurses were first included in the Gallop poll in 1999 and have received the highest ranking each year except in 2001, when firefighters took first place. How can you alleviate the problem? Many people use over-the-counter products. These products provide temporary – or bandaid – relief because the underlying cause is not addressed. I can evaluate your digestive problems and target the exact imbalance in your body. Specific treatments can then be recommended to correct your symptoms. Not only will this improve your digestion and absorption of food, but it will also prevent more detrimental degenerative diseases in the future!
