Change Your Space and Lighten Up!

alaska essences
Recently a client shared with me a concern about her fatigue. She said, “I did not used to feel this way.” She expressed that she would get so tired at work that she would think something was wrong with her work place. As soon as she would leave work, she was no longer fatigued.

This is a problem for many of us, but there are answers to your fatigue problems! I explained to the client that her work environment is to blame. Her workspace has many computers or unprotected EMF’s, large areas of florescent lighting, and, most of all, an underlying fear or the uncertainty of how a new supervisor will make changes. The combination of the three negative elements is pulling energy from her, and they are changing her energy field throughout the day. I suggested she change the vibrational patterns around her workspace to elevate the frequency above the negativity of EMF’s, lighting, and fear.

You can change the vibrational patterns in your negative environments, too. I suggest you do this by using Alaska Essence Sprays to clear the air. These sprays change the frequencies of electrical charges and negative emotions without leaving a strong aroma.

Alaska Essences are Healing Essences from the Heart of Nature. The essences are mostly harvested from plants grown in a pristine area of Alaska, and they are then distributed from Montana.

I use the essences sprays in my office to clear the air between experiences with each client. The ones I prefer to use are Calling All Angels, Lighten Up, Soul Support, Purification, and Guardian. There are many more you can read about on the product website, www.alaskaessences.com. They have monthly sales, too!

Willingness to Change

road sign
There is nothing certain in life except change. Sometimes the uncertainty can feel overwhelming. If we look at the clues life brings us, we can successfully adjust to changes before we hit rock bottom.

Unfortunately, many of us will hit rock bottom before we begin to make changes. Once things are so bad, we have no choice but to make the changes. However, when things are at their worst, it takes a substantial amount of work to repair the circumstances – whether they are relationships, overeating, addictions, or other life issues.

We may ignore the early signs of problems we encounter. Some of these problems may be cravings, weight gain, overuse of alcohol, addictions, codependency, smothering relationships, and a variety of others. Even though all the early signs of a need for change may be present, we have been programmed to think “ it is not that bad,” or “ it will never happen again,” or “it was just the stress this week.” We also tend to think, “things will change when…” No matter what problem needs our attention, we need to consciously make the changes or the problem will keep recurring.

Fear of the unknown often keeps us stuck in old patterns and behaviors. It is important to be honest with your fears. If you are being faithful to your fears, then you are not living your truth.

No matter how many bumps you encounter on life’s road, you must work to prevent hitting rock bottom. To do this, you must strive to solve problems with a willingness to change.

As Gandhi said,
“Keep your beliefs positive because
     Your beliefs become your thoughts
        Your thoughts become your words
           Your words become your actions
              Your actions become your habits
                 Your habits become your values
                   Your values become your destiny!”

Remember this as you make the necessary changes to live your best life. You are in charge of your destiny!

The Danger of Water Bottles

water container
Now is the time of year when the temperatures rise outside, and we need to drink more fluids to stay hydrated. It is important to take water with you when you exercise or take part in outdoor activities this summer, but you also need to beware of the dangers plastic water bottles pose.

Biphenol A, commonly known as BPA, is a chemical that is used in soft plastics. BPA can be found in reusable food containers, water bottles, food can linings, water pipes, and dental sealants. This chemical is man-made, but it mimics the body’s natural hormones, and it can alter the function of the endocrine system. Exposure to this chemical has been shown to affect reproduction and brain development. Researchers have also found that high BPA concentrations are associated with an increased risk for heart disease, heart attack, angina, and diabetes. Liver damage has also been indicated in people with high BPA levels.

What choices do you have in choosing a safe water bottle
1) Don’t purchase bottled water.
2) Use filtered water in a safe, reusable bottle.
3) When purchasing a water bottle, read the label to see if it contains BPA.
4) Stainless Steel bottles and bottles labeled BPA free are the safest products (glass bottles are also safe, but they are heavy and fragile).

Scheel’s has BPA free plastic water bottles.

If you’re concerned about the amount of BPA exposure you have experienced, make an appointment with me to discuss your options.

Be Your Own Advocate: A Cautionary Tale of Abbott Labs

pills and prescription bottle
Last month I recommended the book, The Four Agreements (see May 21, 2012 blog entry). The first of the 4 agreements that author Ruiz discusses is to “Be impeccable with your word.” Ruiz says this is the most important, but also the most difficult to maintain. This agreement should not only be for our personal lives, but for everyone and every company in existence today. It should even apply to Abbott Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company.

It is appalling that a large pharmaceutical company can carry through an intention to misrepresent the use of a drug for years to elderly people and people with limited capabilities to make their own decisions. I was very upset when I heard this story about Abbott Labs taking advantage of people in need of help. Here is a summary of the story I read:

In May of this year, Abbott Laboratories agreed to pay $1.5 billion to resolve criminal and civil liabilities stemming from the company’s unlawful promotion of the prescription drug Depakote. The payment will be the second largest ever by a drug company.

Abbott pleaded guilty to misbranding Depakote by promoting the drug to control aggression and agitation in elderly patients with dementia and to treat patients with schizophrenia, while the Food and Drug Administration approved neither use. The FDA previously approved Depakote to help treat epileptic seizures, bipolar mania, and the prevention of migraines.

For 8 years, Abbott Labs “maintained a specialized sales force trained to market Depakote in nursing homes for the control of agitation and aggression in elderly dementia patients, despite the absence of credible scientific evidence that Depakote was safe and effective for that use,” according to a press release from the Justice Department. The company also marketed the drug to treat schizophrenia even after paying for two studies that failed to show that the drug treated the illness. Abbott Labs did not publish the results of those studies for four years, while continuing to promote the inappropriate use of the drug.

Not only did Abbott Labs misrepresent the use of the drug, they also compromised people’s minds and bodies by doing so. After everything, this drug company is allowed to continue in business after paying the fine. They will undoubtedly be able to afford the fine by increasing drug prices, which have no limits in price.

The bottom line: be your own advocate for any medications you use. And, be the advocate for your elderly friends & relatives. Read all the information about recommended medications and “Be Impeccable with Your Word.”
